This guide explains how MileApp counts visits when you use Route Optimization.

What is a Visit?

A visit is simply any stop or location you want your driver to go to. Examples of visits:
  • A customer’s delivery address
  • A pickup location
  • A store or client you need to visit
  • Any destination on your driver’s route
What’s NOT a visit:
  • Your hub or warehouse (where drivers start and return)
  • Tasks you create but don’t add to route planning

How We Count Your Visits

When you click Optimize to plan your routes, we count all the stops you included. Here’s the simple formula:
Your Visit Count = Stops That Got Routed + Stops That Couldn't Be Routed

Why do unrouted stops count?

Sometimes not all stops can fit into your routes. Maybe you don’t have enough vehicles, or some locations are too far. These “dropped” stops still count because our system processed them. Example:
  • You add 50 delivery addresses
  • 45 addresses get assigned to vehicles
  • 5 addresses couldn’t fit (dropped)
  • Total visits counted: 50

When Do Visits Get Counted?

Visits are counted immediately when you click the Optimize button.
Important: Once you click Optimize, those visits are counted - even if you don’t use the route or delete it later.
Tips to avoid wasting visits:
  • Double-check your addresses before clicking Optimize
  • Make sure your data is correct first
  • Don’t click Optimize just to “test” - it counts every time

Common Questions

If I click Optimize twice, does it count twice?

Yes. Each time you click Optimize, all the stops are counted again. Example:
  • First optimization: 50 addresses = 50 visits counted
  • You click Optimize again: 50 addresses = 50 more visits
  • Total: 100 visits

Does my hub count as a visit?

No. Your hub (warehouse, starting point) is not counted. Only the actual delivery or pickup stops count.

I edited my route manually. Does that add visits?

It depends:
  • Moving stops between vehicles = No extra visits
  • Changing the order of stops = No extra visits
  • Adding NEW stops = Yes, those count
  • Clicking Optimize again = Yes, everything counts again

Why is my visit count different from my task count?

They’re different things:
  • Tasks = All the jobs you create in MileApp
  • Visits = Only the tasks you put into Route Optimization
Example:
  • You create 100 tasks
  • You only add 70 of them to route planning
  • Task count: 100 | Visit count: 70

Can I save unused visits for next month?

No. Your visit limit resets each month. Unused visits don’t carry over. Example:
  • Your limit: 1,000 visits/month
  • You used: 700 visits
  • Remaining: 300 visits (these expire when your new month starts)

Will I get a warning before I run out?

Yes! You’ll receive an email when you reach 90% of your limit.

Understanding Your Bill

Plans with Monthly Limits

If your plan has a set number of visits per month:
  • Under limit: You just pay your regular plan price
  • Over limit: Extra visits are added to your bill
Example:
  • Your plan: 1,000 visits/month for $50
  • You used: 1,200 visits
  • Extra visits: 200
  • Extra charge: 200 x 0.50=0.50 = 10
  • Your bill: $60

Pay-As-You-Go Plans

Some plans charge per visit with no monthly limit: Example:
  • Rate: $0.50 per visit
  • You used: 800 visits
  • Your bill: $400

Real-World Examples

Example 1: Daily Delivery Business

Your situation:
  • Plan: 1,000 visits/month
  • You deliver 40 packages per day
  • You work 26 days per month
Calculation:
  • 40 visits x 26 days = 1,040 visits
  • You’re 40 visits over your limit
  • Consider upgrading or reducing daily deliveries

Example 2: Weekly Route Planning

Your situation:
  • Plan: 500 visits/month
  • You plan routes once a week with about 100 stops
Calculation:
  • 100 visits x 4 weeks = 400 visits
  • You’re safely within your limit

Tips to Manage Your Visits

  1. Plan ahead - Know how many stops you typically have per month
  2. Check before optimizing - Make sure all addresses are correct
  3. Monitor your usage - Check Billing > Subscription regularly
  4. Choose the right plan - Pick a plan that matches your usual volume
