The setup wizard guides you through the initial configuration. It verifies your permissions, lets you add Discord webhooks and mentions, and activates the add-on. The wizard only runs once; after that, you can change settings at any time from the Settings dialog.
Required permission:
  • View flows
  • View automation
  • Create automation
  • Edit automation

Opening the Setup Wizard

Navigate to the Discord Notification add-on from the sidebar. If no configuration exists, the setup wizard opens automatically.

Step 1: Introduction

The first step shows an overview of what the add-on does and checks your organization’s resource availability.

The introduction step lists the main features and verifies that your organization has available quota for automations.

The resource check confirms you have available:
  • Data Types quota
  • Automations quota
  • Personal Access Tokens quota
If any resource exceeds its limit, the wizard blocks you from continuing until the issue is resolved (e.g., by upgrading your plan or removing unused resources). Click Next to proceed.

Step 2: Permissions

The wizard verifies that your account has the required permissions.

Each permission is shown with a Granted or Denied badge. All required permissions must be granted before continuing.

Permissions checked: If a permission is denied, ask your administrator to grant it from Settings > Permission before continuing. Click Recheck after the permission has been updated. Click Next once all required permissions show as Granted.

Step 3: Default Settings

Configure the webhooks and mentions that your automations will use.

Add one or more Discord webhooks and optionally configure mentions and a default bot identity.

Adding a Webhook

  1. Click Add Webhook.
  2. Enter a Name (e.g., “General Channel”, “Alerts”).
  3. Paste the Discord Webhook URL.
To get a webhook URL from Discord: open your Discord server, go to Server Settings > Integrations > Webhooks, create a new webhook, select the target channel, and copy the URL. You can add multiple webhooks. Each automation uses one webhook, so if you want to send messages to different channels, add a webhook for each.

Adding a Mention

Mentions let you tag Discord users or roles inside messages.
  1. Click Add Mention.
  2. Enter a Name (a friendly label, e.g., “Team Lead”).
  3. Select Type: User or Role.
  4. Enter the Discord ID.
To find a Discord user ID: enable Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings > Advanced > Developer Mode), then right-click the user and select Copy User ID. For roles, right-click the role in Server Settings and select Copy Role ID.

Default Bot Settings

  • Default Bot Name: The display name shown on Discord messages. If left empty, Discord uses the webhook’s default name.
  • Default Avatar URL: An image URL for the bot avatar. If left empty, Discord uses the webhook’s default avatar.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 4: Review

The final step shows a summary of everything you configured.

Review all settings before activating the add-on.

Verify that:
  • All permissions are granted
  • At least one webhook is configured
  • Mentions and defaults look correct
Click Finish to activate the add-on. You are taken to the main Manager page where you can start creating automations.

Resetting the Configuration

If you need to start over, open the Settings dialog (gear icon) and scroll to the bottom. Click Reset Configuration and confirm. This deletes the add-on configuration and returns you to the setup wizard. You can optionally choose to also delete all associated automations.
